Battle for Mukono Mosque, RDC Fred Bamwine Hands it over to Uganda Moslem Supreme Council Faction

After a long spirited fight between Mukono main Mosque Imam Abdu Majidu Ssenyonjo ne District Khadi Sheik Ssazir Lumala, RDC Fred Bamwine decided to hand over the keys of this mosque to leaders from Uganda Moslem Supreme Council.

The decision was reached on after Bamwine held a meeting between the two worrying faction and representative from Uganda Moslem Supreme council.

During this meeting the Muslims backing Imam Ssenyonjo demanded district Khadi Lumala to take his office to Kiyunga saying that the want their Imam to use the office he is occupying.

Ffefeka Sserubogo who is the chairman of this mosque says that they backed Lumala to become a district Khadi from Imam and he had to vacate the office of Imam and go settle in Kiyunga which houses the office of leader of Moslems in Mukono.

However Sheik Lumala says that as a leader of Moslems in Mukono district has powers to choose where he can set his office as district a Khadi because he heads all mosques in the area.

A representative of Uganda Moslem Supreme Council Sheik Lule Musitafa informed Bamwine as care takers of all moslem properties they going to solve the situation and they begged they two conflicting parties to forget their wrangles and work together.

At this point Bamwine directed police which took control over this mosque to hand over the keys to Sheik Lule Musitafa who represented Uganda Moslem Supreme Council to take charge of it as they try to see that they two conflicting sides work together.

Last week Moslems who support Imam Ssenyonjo dragged District Khadi Lumala to Mukono police when they accused him of breaking into mosque offices by force without seeking permission from the chairman of this mosque but was released on police bond.
