Equity Bank Admits 110 Students to Equity Leaders Program

Equity Bank Uganda has chosen 110 top-performing students from the 2023 Uganda National Examination Advance Certificate of Education for its Equity Leaders Programme. With this, the programme now has 333 students in total.
The programme, now in its third cohort, aims to develop and inspire young leaders by providing access to education, mentorship, and career training. It also includes a pre-university paid internship and a college counselling programme.
On Sunday, the selected beneficiaries arrived at African Bible University in Lubowa for a week-long induction programme. The induction programme allows scholars to interact with leaders from various industries, including Equity Bank leadership, on topics such as personal development, community engagement, and professional growth and grooming.

The Equity Group Foundation (EGF) established the programme in 1998 with the goal of developing scholars with exceptional leadership skills in the youth. The programme also aims to build a community of dynamic and transformational leaders who will collaborate across borders and sectors to drive long-term economic growth while also making a social impact and advancing the African continent.

Equity Group’s partner universities include Ivy League institutions such as the University of Pennsylvania, Yale, Harvard, Princeton, Cornel University, Brown University, and Columbia University, among others.

The Equity Leaders programme aims to empower academically gifted students. The scholars, chosen based on their outstanding performance, were enthusiastic about the programme. According to Nelson Mandela, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
The bootcamp was officially launched on Monday morning by Anthony Kituuka, the bank’s Managing Director, who welcomed the 110 students to the banking sector and mentorship while also sharing words of wisdom with them.
He also highlighted to the students Equity Bank’s core values, such as integrity, teamwork, and respect, which serve as the foundation for future leaders.
