Go to Prison; Bukedea RDC, DPC, and GISO Remanded for Assault., Robbery, and Negligence

Bukedea RDC, DPC and GISO being taken to court after spending days in police custody

The recent Bukedea LCV by-election saga has led to the remand of three prominent individuals by the Grade One Magistrate Court in Bukedea District.

William Wilberforce Tukei, the Bukedea Resident District Commissioner, Charles Patrick Okoto, the district police commander, and Mohamoud Oluka, the Bukedea Town Council GISO, were brought before the court on July 17, 2023.

They were apprehended last week by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit.

The grade one magistrate, Juliana Kimono, outlined the charges against the accused. Tukei and Okoto were charged with negligence in preventing a felony, while Oluka faced two separate charges: the robbery of nine million shillings and assault against David Stephen Omagor.

Under the guidance of the state attorney, Hellen Logole, the resident district commissioner and the district police commander were remanded to Soroti prison. Meanwhile, Mohamoud Oluka was remanded to Bukedea prison until July 26, 2023.

With the addition of these three individuals, the total number of people in remand related to the Bukedea LCV by-election scandal now stands at nine.
