As more fraud accusations keep coming in against the Sabanyala, the Bunyala chiefdom spokesperson, Mr. Kaddu Mbojjana has come out with new evidence pinning Kimeze’s family on fraudulent land transactions.

Last week the family of Baker Kimeze, the Sabanyala, a titular leader of the Bunyala chiefdom came out to accuse their brother of selling off their father’s land without the family approval.

Led by Fred Seruzzi the heir of Nathan Mpagi, the family claimed that Kimeze sold off the land to investors leaving them homeless.

The chiefdom spokesperson however told the media in a press conference held at the kingdom palace on December 19th 2023 that “whatever the siblings of Kimeze told the public are lies”. He warned the general public and the banyala in particular not to believe these lies.

When Nathan Mpagi, the first Sabanyala died, he left a will. In the will he didn’t mention anything about the land in contention.

According to Kaddu, the contentious land belongs to Adam Kikonyogo and the late Mpagi was just holding it in trust.

“The allegations against our leader that he sold the land through fraudulent means is not true and police should arrest the people spreading these lies”, Kaddu clarified.

Kaddu told journalists in Kayunga that Nanyonga Sarah was the administrator of Kikonyogo’s estate saying that even Kikonyogo’s children led by Dr. Muyinda tried to sell it but they didn’t have the powers.

The contended land of approximately over 570 acres was not included in Nathan Mpagi Ngasaki’s will which Kaddu shared with the media. The land is on Block number 20 and plot number 3.

Nanyonga allegedly sold it to GM sugar.

“Kimeze was not elected as Sabanyala by his family. It was the clan leaders who elected him. The family should leave him to serve his people”, Kaddu warned. He also noted Kimeze’s siblings are proud to be addressed as ‘princes’ and ‘princesses’ saying the chiefdom will not allow children to tarnish the king’s image.

Kaddu also clarified that the family land which was left by the late Nathan Mpagi who Kaddu addressed as the first Sabanyala is in Nabityanka in Galiraaya subcounty, Kayunga district.

He also dismissed claims that the Sabanyala chased away his siblings from their father’s home.

“The truth is, the house which Bunyala uses as a kingdom house is one of the properties left by the late Mpagi and was bequeathed to both the heir and Kimeze. The part of the house which was given to Kimeze is what the kingdom now uses as the palace”, Kaddu clarified adding that ” “that’s why we usually hold kingdom meetings from this side of the house”.
