Below is the PRESS RELEASE of Lydia Namayengo
Fellow Ugandans, supporters, friends and family, I convey my warm regards to you all in the name of the Almighty.
I wish to express my heartfelt appreciation for your tremendous support towards my bid to vie for the Mukono District Woman Member of Parliament in the forth coming elections.
I want to most sincerely thank you for joining us in the struggle to liberate our country and for your active participation in every aspect. I believe in this struggle, everyone has a role to play and I trust that by now, everyone’s role is clearly cut out!
As I have vehemently indicated before, our hopes of holding the flag for the National Unity Platform (NUP) as a candidate in the forthcoming elections were unfairly suppressed for reasons we have put forth in our earlier communication.
Advert
After several discussions with eminent leaders in our great party, our elders in Mukono, our spiritual leaders and our family elders, I have painfully decided to drop the idea of contesting as an independent candidate in the forth coming election.
I know the implication of this decision on the morale of our great supporters in Mukono and world over but we had to agree to take a back seat to give a chance to those that the party selected to present themselves harmoniously to the electorate. It is entirely in the interest of the greater good of peace, unity and harmony not only in our party but also among all change seeking Ugandans.
We are grateful however to all those who have stood with us during these unprecedented days. We appreciate the wise counsel of our President- Hon Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, the Deputy President- Central region Hon Mathias Mpuuga, the eminent elders and spiritual leaders in Mukono, friends, my family and our good supporters.
To our supporters, lets continue to actively participate in the struggle to liberate our country from bad and selfish leadership at all levels. Let us continue speaking against social injustices and exclusion of whatever form regardless of who is perpetrating it!
Our resolve to fight against social injustices and bad leadership remains steadfast and I remain available for deployment by our great party at any liberation front.
To all colleagues who were not satisfied with the candidate selection criteria and process, I kindly ask you to take this brave step and focus on aggregating our forces against a common enemy. I know what it means but yes, it takes sacrifice and bravery especially in the face of glaring injustice. This is what exemplary leadership and maturity demands!! There is no winner in a sinking boat! It is a test that all of us have to pass and move on.
To all our flag bearers in Mukono and the country at large, I only wish you success and good luck. In case you see any good attributes in us, kindly feel free to approach us for any kind of support.
For anyone I injured in any way during this process, I ask for your forgiveness as I have forgiven whoever tried to damage our good name and reputation.
We are for the struggle and the struggle is for us!
