While meeting the NRM village chairpersons for Kampala at Kololo Independence grounds yesterday, President Museveni revealed that his vote results in Kampala were changed. “I had heard about the rigging of votes in Kampala and even my votes were changed” the President stated in parts of his speech.

The NRM candidate despite winning the general presidential elections with a 58.38% score declined performance in Kampala with the opposition leading. The President blames the ONC office and he called on the new manager of the ONC SPA Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye to explain. She explained, “When we assumed office, we tried to get reports from the then administration and those who were in charge of vote protection as agents. The evidenced reports informed us that, the agents were not paid, and this is the reason for the low performance in Kampala and other parts of the country where we declined in performance.”

The former manager of the ONC is the incumbent minister for presidency Hon. Milly Babirye Babalanda who had full responsibility to safeguard the NRM presidential candidate HE YK Museveni’s votes across the country by appointing agents at every polling station and ensuring their satisfaction in terms of allowances.

NRM declined in performance, especially in Kampala and Buganda region where it has its historical attachments losing the majority of the parliamentary seats to the opposition.

The President said that he will hold further discussions about the vote rigging in Kampala and Uganda with the party leaders to avoid the same mistake reoccurring in the next elections.
