President Museveni has extended the fight against poverty to Nakaseke and Nakasongola
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has extended his recently launched fight against poverty to Nakaseke and Nakasongola districts where the struggle that brought him to power took place.
Museveni through the ONC Office launched the campaign last week in Luwero and residents received chickens and goats to help them get out of poverty.
Today, the program extended to Nakaseke and Nakasongola where farmers have already received their products.
The head of the office of The National Chairman (ONC) Hajjat Hadijja Namyalo said, the government has done this to ensure that they deliver services directly to the people as directed by the President.
She said, there had been complaints among the people that the goods sent by the government did not reach the common man, that’s why her boss the President ordered her to take and deliver them herself.
“when the president visits your communities I want you to show him the things you received from his office, and tell him how you have taken care of them to get rid of poverty.
Take a good care of these chickens and high breed goats, when you do well we shall add you more and whoever fails, the opportunity will be taken away from him or her and given to others also to benefit as well,” Namyalo said.
ONC Spokesperson Dr. Brenda Tibamwenda said each family was given 200 chickens, 2 goats, 15 bags of her chicken feed, 40,000 transportation and treatment.
She said they will be working with the agriculture and livestock departments in the Districts where they will distribute these items to ensure proper care and treatment.
The residents who benefited from the scheme thanked the President and promised to support him when the elections come.
