Tension mounts as Rwanda closes border with Uganda

Rwanda government has closed its border with Uganda at Gatuna putting business on a standstill.

Already bloggers and social media activists are claiming the reason to be political.

“The Gatuna border which was closed on Thursday 28th by the Kenya Revenue Authority”, a notice from the Uganda Revenue Authority reads.

According to the Uganda Revenue Authority, the border was closed by Kenya to allow for the expedition of the construction works to complete the Gatuna (Katuna) OSBP infrastructure by the Kenya Revenue Authority.

Travellers, a statement from URA reads, are advised to use Kagitumba/Mirama border post.

The notice however comes at a time when unconfirmed news about Rwanda closing its boarders for security reasons has already been circulating allover social media putting Ugandans and Rwandan nationals in Uganda on tension.
