Church of Uganda Urges Politicians to Prioritize Community Service Over Self-Interest

Lyantonde — Church of Uganda has issued a heartfelt appeal to local politicians, urging them to focus on genuine service to their communities rather than pursuing personal or political gains. The call was echoed during a recent event at St. Mark Mpumudde Church, where Reverend Kasaga Daniel, the parish priest, highlighted the vital role of selfless leadership in transforming society.
The occasion was marked by a generous donation of paint by Hon. Kabarongo, the aspiring Woman Member of Parliament for Lyantonde, who attended a special prayer service at the church. Reverend Kasaga praised her acts of charity, emphasizing that true leadership is rooted in a giving heart that seeks to uplift others.
“In our faith, we believe that a heart that gives is a heart that receives,” Reverend Kasaga stated, underscoring the importance of service and compassion as guiding principles for leaders. He commended Hon. Kabarongo for her dedication to improving sectors such as health, education, and agriculture in Lyantonde, and called on other politicians to emulate her example of selflessness.
The church leadership expressed hope that political figures would prioritize community welfare over personal ambitions. They stressed that genuine service—such as supporting health initiatives, education programs, and social services—aligns with Christian values and can foster lasting development.
During the event, the congregation expressed gratitude to Hon. Kabarongo for her generosity and community spirit. They also proposed that her influence could extend further through initiatives like establishing an orphanage for homeless and orphaned children, particularly within the Protestant community.
