DP Presidential Elections: Hon. Richard Sebamala Emerges as Frontrunner

Hon. Richard Sebamala, the incumbent Member of Parliament for Bukoto Central Constituency, has thrown his hat into the ring for the Democratic Party (DP) presidential elections. Sebamala, a renowned engineer, businessman, and politician, is known for his tireless efforts in promoting sports, education, and healthcare in his constituency.
Sebamala’s rise to prominence began in 2021 when he ousted long-serving legislator Edward Ssekandi from the Bukoto Central Constituency seat, polling 9,916 votes. His victory marked a turning point in the constituency’s history, ending a 26-year jinx. Now, Sebamala is eyeing the DP presidency, challenging incumbent President Nobert Mao.
Sebamala’s track record in parliament shows a strong commitment to fighting for the rights of the vulnerable. He has mentored youths, guided them into investing in developmental projects, and supported women and needy children in Bukoto Central Constituency. His Sebamala Foundation empowers youths through sports, education, and health initiative.
Supporters of Sebamala argue that he is the right person to lead the DP into a new era of leadership. They cite his business acumen, legislative experience, and commitment to community development. “Sebamala is a visionary and reformed leader who can take the DP to the promised land,” says Robert Mawejje, an English teacher and DP cadre.
As Sebamala gears up for the DP presidential elections, he faces stiff competition from incumbent President Nobert Mao. However, with his impressive track record and commitment to community development, Sebamala is well-positioned to make a strong showing. The DP will be watching closely as Sebamala’s campaign unfolds, potentially marking a new chapter in Ugandan politics.
