Hon. Helen Nakimuli: A Shining Star in Kalangala’s Development*

Kalangala District has found a true champion in Hon. Helen Nakimuli, the Woman Member of Parliament who has been making waves with her tireless efforts to uplift the lives of her constituents. As the National Unity Platform’s Head of Communication and Anti-Corruption, Nakimuli has proven herself to be a force to reckon with in Uganda’s parliament.

With her dedication to transparency, equal rights, and good governance, Nakimuli has become a beacon of hope for the people of Kalangala. Her impressive track record in the consistency has earned her widespread recognition, and her name is on everyone’s lips in the district. Under Nakimuli’s watch, Kalangala District has seen significant improvements in various sectors. Kalagala district is compromised of a number of islands on Lake Victoria in Uganda.

Some of her notable achievements include; Infrastructure Development: Nakimuli has been instrumental in pushing for better roads and transport infrastructure in Kalangala, including the revival of ferry services and Women’s Empowerment where through her foundation, Nakimuli has launched projects to empower women’s groups and generate income. 

Nakimuli has also provided relief to people affected by natural disasters, including those whose homes were destroyed by strong winds.

She has also been  fighting against land grabbing incidents, protecting the rights of local communities.

As the country gears up for the 2026 general elections, Nakimuli’s candidature for Kalangala District Woman Member of Parliament looks set to be guaranteed. Her performance over the past five years has exceeded expectations, and her constituents are eager to see her continue her good work.
