From the Lab to Your Bathroom Shelf: Why I’m Proud to Sell UBeauty

By Jeninah Namusisi,

Sales Representative, UBeauty Uganda LimitedLast Saturday, I stood in a supermarket aisle in Kampala and watched a young woman fill her basket with five of our products.

Shower gel, body lotion, facial cleanser, serum and a hand cream. She didn’t know I worked for the company.

She just turned to her friend and said, “This one has never failed me.”That moment is why I’m writing this.

I sell U Beauty for a living, and I’m genuinely excited about what is happening here. So this is part story, part skincare guide.

I want you to know who we are and I want you to leave with a few tips that will help your skin.

A decade of science, now made in MbaleWhen I joined, I assumed UBeauty was a young brand.

It is young in Uganda, but the science behind it is not.

Our group’s skincare research began in China in 2015, with years spent studying ingredients and developing skincare products. We arrived in Uganda in 2023 and the first job wasn’t selling.

It was listening. The team spent time learning what Ugandan consumers struggle with: bumpy skin, dark spots, dryness, breakouts, and products that simply cost too much.

In September 2024, construction of our own factory began at the Mbale Industrial Park and the UBeauty Uganda brand was born.

In 2025, we opened a subsidiary in Nairobi. Next on the list are hair care, fragrance, mother and baby and home care.

As a sales rep, the factory matters more to me than anything else.

When a supermarket manager asks, “Will you have stock next month?”, I can say YES with confidence.

The product is made right here, by Ugandans, for Ugandan skin. What I see on my roundsMy week is spent in supermarkets, neighbourhood beauty shops and wholesale markets.

Here is what has changed in a short time.We now have full, colour-blocked bays in leading supermarket chains.

You can spot the yellow, green and pink bottles from the end of the aisle. Beauty shops in the neighbourhoods are asking us for more shelf space.

Wholesalers are buying in bulk to feed upcountry trade. But the best sign isn’t the shelf. It’s the trolley. Shoppers don’t pick one item and leave.

They stock up on body care and face care together, then come back for more.

In sales, that is the number that matters: repeat purchase. Our range covers two areas:Body care: shower gels, exfoliating body washes, body scrubs, moisturising and brightening lotions, body oils, gel oils and hand cream.Beauty care: cleansers, toners, serums, creams and exfoliating gel, plus foundations, primers, lipsticks and makeup brushes.Six skincare lessons I share every Day every week, customers ask me the same questions. These are the answers I give, learned from our skincare team and from watching what works.Know your skin type first.

Oily, dry, combination or sensitive skin each need different products. Wash your face, wait 30 minutes, then look. Shiny all over means oily. Tight and flaky means dry.

Shiny only on the forehead and nose means combination.Keep the routine simple. Cleanse, treat, moisturise. A three-step routine you follow daily beats a ten-step routine you abandon after a week.Moisturise straight after your shower.

Apply lotion while your skin is still slightly damp. It locks in water and keeps skin soft longer, especially in dry season.

Don’t over-exfoliate. Exfoliation can help remove dead skin cells and leave your skin feeling smoother, but how often you should exfoliate depends on your skin type and the product you use.

Always follow the product instructions and avoid exfoliating too frequently, as this can cause irritation and make dark marks worse.

Protect your skin from the sun. Yes, even darker skin needs protection.

Too much sun exposure can worsen dark spots and cause skin damage.

Try to avoid prolonged exposure to strong sunlight, seek shade when possible and use hats, protective clothing or suitable sunscreen for additional protection.

Remember, sunscreen alone does not provide complete protection from the sun.

Patch-test, then be patient. Try any new product on a small area for a day or two first.

Then give it four to six weeks. Skin renews slowly and switching products every week resets your progress.

If you have severe or painful acne or a rash that won’t go away, please see a doctor or dermatologist. Good skincare helps a lot, but it is not a replacement for medical care.

Beyond the Label: What Really Makes Good Skincare?Ingredients like vitamin C, collagen and niacinamide can be beneficial, but a good ingredient doesn’t always mean a good product.

What matters is the quality of the formulation, the knowledge behind the brand and whether the product suits your skin.

Don’t blindly follow influencers or skincare trends, what works for others may not work for you.

At UBeauty, we believe good skincare starts with understanding your skin and choosing the right products.

Customers are asking for us by name, and by townI read our social media comments almost every evening.

Some of them stop me in my tracks.”U beauty does wonders.

I had lost hope and confidence for my skin, but it’s getting 10/10.””In UBeauty we trust.

You came to save us from skin products that cost an arm and a leg.”The comments I love most, though, are the complaints.

“Where can we get your products in Masaka?” “Do you have a store in Gulu?” “The vitamin C serum is out of stock on Jumia.

“To me as a sales rep, those are not complaints.

They are a map. Demand is already ahead of supply in Masaka, Gulu, Mukono, Wakiso and online and we are working to close that gap.

Why I’m proud to carry this bagI’ve sold products I didn’t believe in.

This is different. Our promise is simple: practical products, proven ingredients, prices everyday shoppers can reach and free skincare consultations, so nobody buys blindly.

Great skin shouldn’t cost an arm and a leg. Watching that idea fill trolleys across Uganda is the best part of my job.If you’re a retailer or distributor who wants UBeauty on your shelves or a shopper with a skin question, reach out.

I’d love to hear from you 0793196807 Jeninah Namusisi is a Sales Representative at UBeauty Uganda Limited, working with supermarkets, beauty shops and wholesale partners across the country.
