KYANKWANZI: Ex-Minister Migereko Sharpens New Assistant RDCs on Effective Mobilisation

Former Minister of Lands, Dawudi Mpabulungi Migereka has challenged the Assistant Resident and City Commissioners to strive to equip themselves with tools of effective mobilisation if they are to succeed in their new deployments by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

Migereko’s appeal was part of a nearly two-hour lecture to the officials under training at the National Leadership Institute- NALI in Kyankwanzi district today, Thursday, June, 6.

The new officials were summoned for a two-week induction training running from May 26, expected to come to an end on Friday, June 7th. The notice to the participants revealed that they were to be oriented on the roles of their departments to ease their work.

The ex-minister congratulated the participants upon catching the eye of the President noting that they should not take the opportunity given to them for granted since many would have wished to be where they are.

Migereko who boasts of an enviable wealth of experience in public mobilisation challenged his day’s audience to be conscious of the character and status of the person they will be representing and and reflect the same in their discharge

He also challenged the participants to interests themselves with mobilising communities towards social economic transformation through the different strategic poverty alleviation programs put in place by the government. He singled poverty and unemployment as the key problem areas to be tackled by the officials as a new force of the government.

He noted that these two challenges have affected household income which has in turn given birth to social upheavals in homes such as domestic clashes, crime, among others. He said the challenges above pose a big problem for the government as it brews resentment which needs to be addressed by the office of the RDC by consistently reviewing the problems of the people.

The new RDCs according to Migereko are charged with ensuring security in their respective districts. He tasked them to take full interest in peace and security matters because their government is mandated to secure the country. He noted that the NRM government has over the years consolidated public trust for its impressive record in securing the country, urging the officials to ensure this is maintained.

The former Butembe County Member of Parliament guided the Assistant RDCs to continuously identify more cadres in the areas where they work so they can join the line to become disciples to deliver the message of the government so as the ensure the continuity of the NRM Government. He testified that its through this method, many including himself have been able to penetrate to the National level to give a contribution to the building process of the country.

The two weeks induction training for the newly appointed President’s men and women is expected to come to an end tomorrow, Friday, 7 after which they will take on their duties in their respective districts where a lot awaits them.
