UMSC Holds Bilateral talks with the General Authority of the Islamic Affairs and Endowments in Abu-Dhabi United Arab Emirates (UAE)
This was as a result of UMSC’s initiation through the Ambassador of Uganda to UAE H.E Zaake W. Kibedi, which resulted in an invitation extended to UMSC by the Authority. The delegation from UMSC was led by the National Chairman Prof. Dr. Muhamadi Lubega, accompanied by the Secretary General. Hon. Hajji, Muhamad Ali Aluma, Dr. Sentongo Ashad and Mr. Abdul Salam Wamimbi. The team was warmly welcomed by the Chairman of the Authority H.E Dr. Muhammad Matar Salem Al-Kaabi and the Director General
of the Authority Sheikh. Muhammad Saeed Al Neyadi, representatives from the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs among others.
The meeting was held at the Headquarters of the UAE General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowment Abu-Dhabi.
The discussions were centered on possible areas of collaboration between the Government of UAE and UMSC.
The Uganda Muslin Supreme Council (UMSC) met with the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments, on 28 September 2023. The meeting, which was coordinated and attended by His Excellency Zaake W. Kibedi, took place at the Headquarters of the General Authority in Abu Dhabi – UAE. The
UMSC delegation was led by the National Chairman Prof. Dr. Muhamadi Lubega Kisambira, accompanied by the Secretary-General Hajj. Aluma Muhamad Ali, Dr. Sentongo Ashad, and Mr. Wamimbi Abddul Ssalaam. H.E Dr. Muhammed Matar Salem Al-Kaabi and Muhammad Saeed Al Neyadi, the Chairman and Director General of the General Authority respectively, received and held discussions with the UMSC delegation on possible areas of partnership and collaboration.
The National Chairperson highlighted the history, growth, and structure of the UMSC, and articulated the key pillars of the UMSC Strategic Plan 2023-2033. Various opportunities were discussed in the areas of socioeconomic
development, strengthening the financial health of the UMSC structures, improving education services, water, health and sanitation, dawah, capacity building of leadership, diversity, and inclusion, as guided by the Qur’an and Sunna. The meeting resolved to sign a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) to help cement this relationship and guide future support to a range of activities. This will include capacity building of Imams, facilitating health and educational services and infrastructure, exchange programs across several areas of work, structuring of Dawah and Awqaf through mosques and relevant UMSC departments, sharing expertise, and collaborating on development projects to benefit all the people of Uganda. Mufti of Uganda, H.E Sheikh, Dr. Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, the National Chairman invited the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments to come to Uganda to acquaint themselves with UMSC management, structures, and operations in the service of the Muslims of Uganda.
