From the face of it, Counsel Magellan Kazibwe is a Uganda’s Practicing lawyer who has lived up in the law and legal fraternity for the last 16 years – mentored several Uganda’s practising young emerging lawyers in different advocates firm thus far.

The life all together for Counsel Magellan is one that is soothing: fascinated him to practice legal matters for several clients and associating with leaders of great influence in the world such as National Unity Platform President Robert Kyagulanyi – an opposition influential leader in Uganda yet still, a one of substance that is direct and beffiting to represent all people especially in Bukoto Central Constituency. He is a son of soil at Bukunda village in Kamuzinda of Kyanamukaka Sub County: lived beyond borders in serving community members, leaders and their subjects.

Married to Joan Nakabira whom they have produced children: Counsel Magellan Kazibwe is a lawyer by profession under Magellan Kazibwe and Company Advocates.

” I am a lawyer with a bias in fighting for the vulnerables and those whose land has been violated and maginalised,” vowed Magellan.

In the recently incident of the government’s capture of the National Unity Platform (NUP) affiliate Eddy Mutwe, Counsel Magellan was entrusted to lead the legal team to advocate for bailing out him from custody: yet still the later is advocating for his rights opining government for blackmailing and defamatory charges.

As a youngster, Magellan, aged 48- years old served as the Head Prefect at Makayi college and at Makerere University served as a leader of Masaka Students Association in legal course as well as a speaker of Law students at Makerere University where he graduated with a Barcleors Degree in Law studies.

As for clarity, he has served as a lawyer for Buddu Country for the last 16 years – a position he has claimed in advocating for the rights of vulnerable including courtesy of his Highness the King of Buganda Kingdom Ronald Mutebi (11) – advocating for the rights of Buganda Kingdom properties such as Land titles and other assets.

As a legal practitioner, Mr. Magellan has stood for leadership position and currently vying for Bukoto Central Constituency Member of Parliament seat.

Leadership revolutionist

In a nut shell, Counsel Magellan Kazibwe stood in 2021 general elections and polled the third position – with 1701 votes within the 51 polling stations in the race – and currently holds the National Unity Platform ticket to contest and challenge and defeat Hon. Richard Sebamala from the Democratic Party in 2026 general elections.

Counsel Magellan Kazibwe has proved locals within Bukoto Central Constituency that he is a true transitional legislator to represent them in parliament as his opponent Hon. Sebamala is criticized by the locals for losing track in full- filling their needs: mostly in business deals, not a born of Bukoto Central Constituency and he has embarked on Democratic Party Presidential role instead than representing their interests in parliament thus trusting Mr. Magellan as a befitting and timely successor of him.

A leader aiming for teamwork

Additionally, Counsel Magellan Kazibwe has worked with influential opinion leaders in the community such as Ms Falidah Nabatanzi whom they’ve rallied for the voting of Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi as the Next president to stir Uganda into traditional government.

He has braved the heated up opposition baits and temptation by not joining the ruling government under President Museveni : as evidenced in other influential opposition leader before in accepting ransom and bribery and leadership position from the government and quit their affiliated parties.

Counsel Magellan Kazibwe has taught legal matters and awakened the awareness of Legal rights for the journalists, youth and the country’s citizens – as stipulated in the 1995 constitution of Uganda.

”The rights to produce, publish and express news matters and information is a legally allowed for the practitioners: journalists themselves and they’re regarded as the fourth Estate,” remarked a 48- years- old Magellan in one of the conferences attended during World Press Day Celebrations in Uganda.

He has been a pillar of peace, freedom fighter and development activist among youth and the communities in Uganda: youth in prison have been set free due to his role in championing justice and freedom to be guaranteed to them.

” As a lawyer, I hope to held the government accountable on At Mugaga Kindu and St Maurice Lwagulwe government schools to lifted in their standards and required upgrading into schools applicable for all,” said Magellan.

Before, he has fought for locals in the community especially those in fishing, teachers payment increment and vying to extend seed schools among the people in Bukoto Central Constituency.

He has rallied all the community members in Bukoto Central Constituency with in 105 villages that make up the area – in areas such as Kabanda, Kajjwa and Kiserekete and Kyatokolo others in mobilising them under developmental programs.

” I managed to extend passion fruits to all youth in villages within Bukoto Central Constituency to change their lives and economic status. Most of the locals are farmers – growing passion fruit which is a trending business,” said Mr. Magellan Kazibwe during the handing over the development items for the youth.

Averagely; Bukoto Central Constituency is comprised of majority youth and father’s and according to locals- although Mr. Magellan Kazibwe stood in 2021 general elections and lost it is hight time for them to entrust him into Parliament.

”Majority of the voters have realised that the voters we’ve voted in parliament hasn’t returned back and work on our issues such as extending developmental programs and extending social services such as roads construction, equipping youth with skills in mentorship training – and assisting them with seed capital to work,” observed Mr. Joel Ssegirinya a youth leader in Kabanda village which Counsel Magellan Kazibwe has proved to fight for and exhibited potential in doing more.

According to Ms Cissy Nakyanzi, a resident of Kajjwa- village, they’ve grappled with land grabbing issue in the area but Counsel Magellan Kazibwe has fought hardly for them in community and most of the People whose land was grabbed had been restored – with the community today holding less land grabbing issues only hoping for better services mostly among the elders- and youth to invest in farming business and other hand on business such as crafting mats, and others for selling.

” Counsel Magellan Kazibwe is a leader of a great charisma who has proved to us that he could work for us as he has reached to us. He has supported us with knowledgeable in starting small an grow big- and made a great impact in advocating for the rights of people,” observed Nakyanzi.

Mr. Magellan Kazibwe has been an opposition core force leader to reckon with in Bukoto Central Constituency who has stood tall – in fighting the underperforming leaders in the area and has greatly risen the National Unity Platform flag in the area.

As a team leader for the National Unity Platform party in the region, Mr. Magellan has inspired the youth to avoid being taken as a baits and ladders by self-interest politicians and advices them to work hard and be financially empowered.

” The tendency of the youth to be used by politicians who are unreliable and connive with people who are instinctively looking for their own needs is not a good example and the quality of the leader in governance they need,” adviced Counsel Magellan.
