KANUNGU: FATHER BEATEN TO DEATH BY SON OVER COFFEE DISPUTE

Police in Kanungu district is investigating circumstances under which a 73-year-old man, Emmanuel Bareba, was allegedly assaulted by his own son, Amosi Nuwagaba, 28, leading to his death.
According to police reports, the incident occurred on July 4 at 14:00hrs at the family home in Kyeshero central cell, Kyeshero Sub County. The dispute started when Bareba accused his son of stealing and selling his coffee, prompting Amosi to attack his father brutally, leaving him with severe injuries.
“The suspect, Amosi Nuwagaba, is currently at large, and our team is working tirelessly to apprehend him and bring him to justice,” said ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi police spokesperson.
“We condemn this heinous act and urge anyone with information about the suspect’s whereabouts to come forward.”
The victim was admitted to Bwindi Community Hospital but succumbed to his injuries on July 8 at 14:00hrs.
According to Maate,the community is shocked by the incident, and concerns have been raised about the suspect’s alleged history of drug abuse and previous assaults on his father.
The police are urging anyone with information about Amosi’s whereabouts to come forward to aid in his arrest and prosecution.
