Minister Babalanda Hails Kyabazinga for Promoting Household Wealth Creation as Busoga Marks 12th Coronation Anniversary

MAYUGE – The Minister for the Presidency, Hon. Babirye Milly Babalanda, has commended His Royal Highness the Kyabazinga of Busoga, William Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope IV, for championing youth skilling and wealth creation initiatives that complement Government programs.

Minister Babalanda made the remarks today as she joined thousands of Basoga at the Mayuge District Headquarters to celebrate the 12th Coronation Anniversary of the Kyabazinga, held under the theme “Strengthening Our Cultural Norms and Values for Development.”

In her address, She expressed sincere gratitude to the Kyabazinga for sending a delegation led by the Prime Minister of Busoga Kingdom, Dr. Joseph Muvawala Nsekere, to represent the people of Busoga at the burial of the late His Majesty King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV of Tooro.

Minister Babalanda also thanked the Kyabazinga for his recent visit to Budiope West Constituency on 09th September 2026, where he launched the construction of school dormitories and a kitchen at Kitaidhumbwa Community Primary School, distributed cocoa seedlings, and encouraged the people of Budiope to grow coffee and cocoa as long-term cash crops for sustainable household incomes.

She hailed the King’s focus on skilling the youth across Busoga, noting that the initiative emulates and complements the Presidential Skilling Hubs established by President Museveni to tackle unemployment and poverty.

In line with Government’s wealth creation agenda, Babalanda encouraged the people of Busoga to embrace Government programs including the Youth Livelihood Programme, Emyooga, the Parish Development Model (PDM), and the Four-Acre Model as viable pathways out of poverty.

The Minister also rallied Basoga to participate in the 4th Edition of the Busoga Prayer Week for all denominations, organized by the Busoga Consortium for Development, scheduled for Monday 21st to Saturday 26th September 2026, to pray for Busoga and Uganda.

She further mobilized the people of Busoga to join her on Wednesday, 23rd September 2026, at Iringa Township Primary School, Nkondo Sub-County, Buyende District, where H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is expected to officiate as Chief Guest at her Thanksgiving ceremony.

She congratulated His Royal Highness upon the milestone.

The colourful coronation anniversary was graced by the Prime Minister of Uganda, Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja, the Third Deputy Prime Minister and Woman MP for Mayuge District, Rt. Hon. Rukia Isanga Nakadama, the Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, the Prime Minister of Busoga Kingdom and Executive Director of the National Planning Authority, Dr. Joseph Muvawala Nsekere, Resident District/City Commissioners, Busoga Area Members of Parliament, Busoga District leaders, Royal Chiefs from Busoga Kingdom, religious and cultural leaders, thousands of Basoga and well-wishers.
