“President Museveni Applauds For Improved Service Delivery To The Diaspora Community In Qatar”-Says SPA/DA Hajji Abbey Walusimbi

The Senior Presidential Advisor on Diaspora Affairs, Ambassador Abbey Walusimbi, has reiterated that His Excellency President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, continues to serve the interests of every Ugandan across the globe, adding that the President has directed and ensured the creation of Diaspora desks in almost all ministers, departments & agencies.

The Ambassador was addressing a group of potential investors, human resource managers, telecom engineers, organizational health & and safety officers, logistics managers, foods & and beverages operation supervisors, recruitment company owners, transporters, clearing & and forwarding officers, and Ugandan domestic workers, who shared success stories and challenges facing them.

Walusimbi encouraged them to remain positive and continue focusing on work, assuring that the government would resolve the isolated cases. He also noted that since Qatar has opened its doors to skilled labor, it’s high time government establishes a state-of-the-art training facility, for professionals willing to work in Qatar.

On matters of growth opportunities, he called for accelerated investments and fostering trade, through value-addition and exportation of Ugandan traditional agricultural products, like pineapples, and oranges, to the new massive markets in Qatar.

Deputy Head of the Embassy, Ambassador Baswari Kezaala Muhammed, commended Ugandans in Qatar for being well-organized, and united, and urged them to continue utilizing services at the Mission. He also asked the government to consider providing business operators with a cargo airline, to ease the sending and receiving of goods, adding that it will also help in promoting Uganda.

Chairperson Sheema NRM Entrepreneurs’ League, Mr. Biziira Boaz Webare, called upon potential investors and business people to take advantage of Uganda’s profitability, by establishing and locating production ventures in Uganda.

In their remarks, Ugandans in Qatar appreciated the President for establishing the Embassy and Diaspora desks, which have brought better services closer to them.

They requested the Office of the President, Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Gender, Labour & Social Development Ministry to lobby funds from the government, to set up the Ugandans in Qatar SACCO, in a bid to uplift the welfare of community members.

Even with the pending signing of the Bilateral Labour Agreement between Uganda & and Qatar, in a couple of  months, Ugandans in Qatar have already benefited, with a performing arts group called ‘Twegatte Dance Troupe’, led by, the Head of Cultural Affairs & NRM Chapter, Mr. Akampurira Benson, ranked among the best performers at the recent FIFA World Cup tournament in Qatar. As a result, some members were awarded scholarships in Canada & USA, and herein set to perform on the same stage in 2026.

More to that, the Qatar She Cranes & Cranes have usually participated and won the hearts of many and trophies, among others.

Thanks to the great effort of the Chairperson of the Ugandan Community in Qatar (UGACOQ), Mr. Aliguma Saul Rayan, who mobilizes and unites members.

Getting on, a delegation of potential investors is next month expected in Uganda, to exploit the vast investment opportunities.

The meeting was also attended by the Head of Consular Services, Mr. Samuel Wandera, Financial Attaché, Hajjat Janet Kirya Gimbo, and Public Relations Officer, Mr. Muhand Omer, among others.
