A Woman who Killed her Husband with Iron bar in Mukono Setenced to 20 years in Jail
High Court in Mukono District jailed 27 year old woman to serve 20 years in jail after she was found guilty of killing her husband with iron bar and panga.
Court heard that on
February 14, 2018, Jackline Nakku at their home in Nabuuti village Mukono
municipality, Mukono district hit her husband Eric Ssenyonjo Kiddu several
times on the head, with an iron bar, killing him instantly.
Ssenyonjo’s body was later found in a pool of blood with an
iron bar, a panga and a brick besides it.
Nakku allegedly killed
her husband, in the wee hours of the morning following a domestic dispute.
Neighbours told police shortly after the murder that the
couple had a long domestic battle and their issues were once handled by
religious and local leaders.
Ssenyonjo had accused Nakku of having an affair with another
man
After killing her husband, the accused reportedly made an alarm to attract neighbors claiming that her husband had been attacked by unknown people in their bedroom.
However, when police reached the crime scene and cordoned off the area, there was no sign of forced entry.
When Police interrogated the maid who is an adult and children but they all said they had not heard any one break into the house apart from the beating which was inside the house.
In her judgement, Justice Susan Okalony said all the circumstantial evidence presented in court showed that she was involved in her husband’s murder.
The Judge said Nakku intended to kill Ssenyonjo because she concentrated on his head which she hit several times she decided to sentence her to serve 20 years in prison.
