BISHOP ASIIMWE MENTORS KINYASANO GIRLS
RUKUNGIRI, Uganda – Rt. Rev. Onesimus Asiimwe, the Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of North Kigezi, has urged students to prioritize their goals and make informed decisions. Speaking to senior five students from Kinyasano Girls’ Secondary School at his residence on May 1st, 2024, Bishop Asiimwe emphasized the importance of distinguishing between urgent and important tasks.
The Bishop encouraged the students to set ambitious goals, quoting Ecclesiastes 3:1, “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” He also warned the girls against “dream killers” such as substance abuse and unhealthy relationships.
Maama Florence, the Bishop’s wife, complemented his message with a lesson on patience, using the story of Esau and Jacob from Genesis 25:19-34. She cautioned the students against making impulsive decisions, emphasizing that “decision determines destiny.”
The students appreciated the mentorship, with one expressing admiration for the Bishop’s residence and aspiring to build a similar home. Bishop Asiimwe also gifted newspapers to promote a reading culture.
Kinyasano Girls’ Secondary School Headteacher, Mrs. Allen Kiyasiimire Tugumisirize, thanked Bishop Asiimwe for his leadership and commitment to the youth.
