Here is how Nantaba missed the hitman’s bullets
The state minister for ICT, Aida Nantaba servived death on Sunday morning when unknown assailants allegedly trailed her official vehicle.
The scribe News reporters have been in the field reconstructing the scenes of the alleged crime.
We visited Sinda, at Sezibwa swamps, a village near Kabimbiri township in Mukono district where the allegd assailants first met the minister.
We met Namayanja Diana, a roadside fruit vendor who said the minister is her regular customer and that even on the fateful day, the minister had stopped to buy some crops from her.
“Mama Nantaba” as Namayanja repeatedly referred to her, has stopped to buy her usual crops when a rider on a black “big motorcycle” came from Kampala side on a terrible speed. “He stopped and the minister asked me to serve him first” said Namayanja.
“I asked the man what he wanted to buy and he told me he wanted a direction to Kabimbiri. I directed him and he left again on a high speed” Namayanja recounts.
Namayanja says that Nantaba was saved by his bodyguard who shielded her from the rider.
“The bodyguard came out of the vehicle and stood against Nantaba. This could have prevented the rider from establishing his target” Namayanja noted.
According to Namayanja, the acts of the rider who she can only identity as a man in black, raised suspicion causing Nantaba to leave without buying anything, an act which Namayanja says had never happened.
Namayanja also recalls that there was only one rider and that he was putting on a black jacket, a black helmet and carrying a black laptop bag on his back.
