Men shun COVID Vaccination for fear of becoming Sexually weak

In a bid to curb further spread of Covid -19, the government of Uganda embarked on the immunisation exercise to minimise the death rate and severe disease, However some men in Mukono District are vowing not to go in for vaccination due to fear that they may  end up becoming sexually weak.

Bernard  Mukasa 42, a boda boda rider and a resident of Kikubankiima in Mukono Municipality, says he cannot risk to go for the jab after being told by his friend that it weakens men sexually.

“My friend went for vaccination at Mukono General Hospital some two months back, but he complains that he is now too weak and at times fails to have sex”, Mukasa said.

Mukasa is not alone as there are many men thinking the same, Another man who is  a resident of Ntinda- Bagala zone in Goma Division, who preferred to only identify  himself as Paul, narrates that he is childless at the moment and he cannot finish his life by leaving a childless life forever  by going for immunisation because ” It has many terrible side effects “. like one can’t have children after getting a jab”,    Paul said.

” My neighbour went for vaccination at Goma Health Centre 1V, but after 2 weeks he lost love for sex and the wife is ever complaining that he started cheating on her, and their marriage is almost breaking up”, he said.

However one of the immunised men Joshua Kisawuzi a resident of Ntawo in Mukono Municipality says he went for vaccination at Ntawo centre but he didn’t get any serious side effects, ” I just felt a small pain and everything is normal as to any other  man”, he said.

The Mukono General Hospital Administrator Mr Fred Wandeme has advised men to stop the excuses and go for vaccination to save their lives and that of their loved ones.

The District Health Officer, Dr Stephen Mulindwa said every drug has side effects and  side effects are expected  but they are not terrible as they are being rumoured.

The Initiative for Social and Economic Rights Program officer for Social Accountability and Citizen Participation Ms Nassozi Rehema Ssozi says they have heard such excuses but  no one has done research to prove that.

She has advised all men to go for vaccination for the betterment of all Ugandans.
