Parliamentary Budget committee chairperson, Amos Lugolobi explains government priorities: We are working on oil roads.

The chairperson of Uganda’s Parliamentary budget committee, Hon. Amos Lugolobi has explained why Uganda is not working on the development of new roads.

Lugolobi who was meeting Journalists in Kayunga on Saturday March 9 said that due to the many oil roads which Uganda must construct before 2021, plans to construct new roads have been halted.

Lugolobi was responding to questions from Kayunga journalists about the Kayunga-Baale-Galiraya road which was expected to be worked on this year.

Lugolobi said this road is a game changer to the development of Kayunga especially if a ferry is constructed to link Kayunga with Amolatar district.

He however expressed concern over the rising number of people petitioning for compensation in areas where the power lines under the rural electrification project were passed.

“Electricity lines are specifically looking for people in the villages. Instead of embracing the opportunity, people are instead demanding for compensation for the their beans” Amos Lugolobi.

Uganda is currently covered with electricity by only 11%. We are looking at how to increase this to 30%. “We can’t do this if we start paying whoever lost his beans and potatoes”

Lugolobi is also the patron of Kayunga Journalists association, an organization working to promote unity and development among the journalists in Kayunga district.
