Public Reaction and Trending Discussions

The attack has dominated social media discussions, with Ugandans expressing a mix of shock, anger, and concern over the safety of public figures.

On X, the post by Tumwine Muheirwe, which includes images of Full Figure in the hospital and a video of the assault, has garnered over 10,000 retweets and 15,000 likes, making it one of the most trending topics in Uganda. Users have condemned the violence, with many calling for swift justice and an end to political violence. “This is unacceptable. Full Figure may be controversial, but no one deserves to be attacked like this,” tweeted @KampalaCitizen, reflecting a sentiment shared by many.

Others, like @UgandaVoice, have pointed to broader issues of security, stating, “If this can happen to a Presidential Advisor, what hope do ordinary citizens have?”

The incident has also reignited debates about the role of social media in exacerbating political tensions, with some users criticizing Full Figure’s past behavior. “She has insulted many people online. Maybe this is karma,” wrote @DebateUG, though this view has been met with backlash from those who argue that violence is never justified.

Justine Nammere’s Response

Adding a layer of complexity to the story, Masaka Woman MP flag bearer Justine Nameere has been named in connection with the attack. According to a statement recorded at the Kampala Metropolitan Police headquarters, Full Figure alleged that Nameere and her husband were involved in the assault and robbery that took place on August 29.

Nameere, however, has denied these allegations, stating in a press release, “I categorically deny any involvement in this incident. These are baseless accusations meant to tarnish my reputation. I urge the police to conduct a thorough investigation and bring the real perpetrators to justice.”

Nameere’s denial has further fueled online discussions, with some users questioning the motives behind the attack and others demanding transparency from the authorities. “If Nameere is innocent, she should cooperate fully with the police. This is bigger than just one person,” tweeted @TruthSeekerUG.

Political Implications

The attack on Full Figure comes at a time when Uganda is navigating a delicate political landscape, with upcoming elections and ongoing tensions between different factions. Her role as a Presidential Advisor and her history of controversial statements have made her a polarizing figure, but the violence against her has united many in condemnation.

Uganda’s Youth Minister and events promoter Balaam Barugahara has publicly denounced the attack, calling for the perpetrators to face justice.

Police spokesperson SSP Patrick Onyango confirmed that a case of assault and robbery has been registered, and investigations are ongoing.

“We are committed to ensuring that those responsible are held accountable,” Onyango stated, though details about the progress of the investigation remain scarce.
