The bishop of Lugazi diocese has advised parents to embrace business and technical education saying this is a clear way to improving household incomes.
Bishop Christopher Kakooza was presiding over the graduation ceremony of Bob McLeod Vocational Training Institute in Kanglumira last week. The institute which was founded last year passed out its pioneer students with certificates in Beauty and Cosmetology and Tropical Agriculture. 51 students were graduated.
He noted that many parents struggle to take their children through high school an act he said is wasting Uganda’s productive population.
“Most of our children go through high school and after failing to get jobs, they then start thinking of how they can enroll for technical and business education” Bishop Kakooza noted
He however asked the graduands to always upgrade their skills in order to fit in the global dynamic market.

“there are four things which man lives on every day. These include; Shelter, healthcare, Clothing and feeding. You should look out for these sectors when educating your children. Especially those children coming from a humble background.
Fr. Maurice Kigoye who is the project coordinator at the institute commended the McLeod family in the New Zealand for the moral and financial support they give to the institute which he said has enabled the youths from the community who were once hopeless to regain their hope.
